We rode at home today. It was a decent ride. We hacked to the arena via the culdesac and Jean's and as we passed Walt's garden, their sprinkler was on. Dan didn't care. He looked, but didn't care. And it's a decent garden sprinkler. But.. yay for maybe helping to desensitize... or maybe not. ;) There seems to be no desensitizing to the Ashland sprinklers at this point. So we carried on and headed up to work.
We did our homework. We started out in the walk and did shoulder in, haunches in, and leg yields. We did turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches. Then we trotted on a loose rein and then we did our 6 minutes of trot halt trots. He was a good boy. We trotted the poles a few times but only like... 3 or 4.
He was a good boy though he got a bit quick and rushy at the end. I did try some canter trot canter transitions and... the canter felt pretty awful. Especially the left lead, which... hasn't been the icky one lately. Huh? Weird. But we ended with a nice trot and he was happier and not rushing, so we quit with that. We hacked home via the pasture this time.
I know dude.. it's HOT out!
