So... definitely pain related. Took him off bute and you can tell a difference. Trot still felt good, though maybe, just maybe, I felt the inkling of something there again. And he felt a little more reluctant to go to the arena. But worked decently. good ride until we cantered.
right lead first... kept him cantering a bit longer to start and when we did the shallow loop he swapped and then broke and stuck his tongue out. Went left lead and broke on the straight away and tried to fix it but then broke again. So we quit.
No bute, but did do sucralfate and methocarb. swapped to jump saddle to see if it's saddle related. nope. although I did try to sit better, but it still didn't help.
I'm sorry buddy.. i'm trying my damndest to fix you.
