Ahhhhh... I needed today! I am grateful, thankful, and blessed!
It was a gorgeous day. I got to Ashland earlier and took Dan out in the fields for a nice warm up hack and some fitness. We hacked to the gallop track and then trotted it. It was so tempted to gallop it but... baby steps. Don't over do it Holly. So we trotted most of it and cantered a little bit at the end. It's a nice track! And he's still got his 4 mph trot. So then we timed it perfectly to head back to the arena to meet Kelli for a dressage ride. (Which meant, I was in the dressage saddle and bridle, so another good reason not to gallop!).
We had a pretty good ride. He felt quite nice and we had some nice trot half passes and lateral work. He felt a bit weak still in the canter, especially going to the right. Those upwards aren't as smooth. He wants to use his neck still. But our downwards were better. He did swap once in our canter, but... only once. And no tongue, but he did get a bit chompy. But still, some pretty nice work.
Then we went for another hack with Kelli and Marvin to cool down. It was such a pretty day it was hard to not want to stay out there forever!
