The weather was gorgeous this morning, so we couldn't resist and headed to Ashland. We had a nice long hack. We trotted some and he felt pretty good in the fields and the woods. We ran into Elizabeth and Veri and her dogs. Dan was fine and didn't mind the dogs. He did mind Veri gettng to close to "his" grass. Ha ha. Although he did say hi to him politely before he made snarky faces to keep him away from his grass.
We left them and did some more trotting on the trails. I was hoping to go play in the jump arena to do some more assessing but it was booked. So we headed to the dressage arena. And he was lame. Like... legit lame. Like... clearly lame. Sigh... It felt very much like the right hnd. He side passed fine at the walk, but when we tried to "back the V", he got upset and his tongue came out. I quit backing and we went back to walk and trot. Then I tried a canter to see how he felt. The right lead felt awful at first but his second attempt felt better. Still not great though. The left lead was much better feeling but he couldn't hold it and fell out of it. As I was finishing up, Kelli showed up so I asked her to watch. She said that she saw it even n the left lead canter.. his right hind was way out behind and not tracking up and under. She also felt like she saw right hind at the trot. Sadness.
We had to head home to make a zoom call. Once I got off the zoom call I called Dr. Barrow and made an appointment. Maybe we'll try injecting it with renovo. Sadness. But, at least it was a gorgeous day to hack. And we did have fun on the trails.
