Feral antics in pasture while I lessoned on Funny this morning.
saddle fitter came. Groomed first and was actually pretty decent... girls still up at arena area in pasture, so distracted?
saddle fitter came: absolutely obnoxious... wiggly... chewy.... anxious?... making rude faces...
decided to sell peter horrobin.. just needs longer tree points. rib emergence is so long. plus it rocks a lot. tried the ryder.. much better, though a little bit of rock. Tried two western saddles... Kaitlyn's looked good and was worth a ride. Jenny's was a horrible fit... so didn't even try on.
Rode up to arena in the DP demo one... soft and comfy but... awkward. Dan seemed like i had to push to keep him going in arena. So tried kaitlyns... same... not a fan and i felt awkward. hard to tell if it's me feeling awkward cause it's western but dan didn't seem as thrilled. Tried the DP quantum... we both kind of liked it. Really wide twist and it was hard for me to get him to collect but.. i could. he felt much more forward (although maybe a bit runny). But.. was kind of fun. left lead canter felt lovely. right lead canter still crappy.
then tried the ryder dressage saddle again.... stuck his tongue out pretty quickly. argh... because of a shorter neck? Because I had just cantered right? Because he doesn't like the ryder? felt like he was falling/tipping right...
so... hosed him off... freakin' hot and humid and he's got a winter coat coming in. plan is to just ride in bareback pad until i can't... maybe try the brown mattes under the ryder... maybe try right shoulder shim under ryder... not sure about western saddles yet....
