He's growing up! He was a very well behaved pony today.
We had a visit with Dr. Eggleston today. Luckily the handlers are awesome and were perfect for him. Dan was playing with the guys a little bit but they were good natured about it. So... basically... we had students today too. They watched him go and decided that they saw right front and right hind. Originally Dr. Eggleston thought that the right front was more problematic. So then they did some flexions and Dan was positive for the right hind fetlock mostly. Because Dr. Peroni had blocked the right front and it went away and became left front a little... Dr. Eggleston decided he wanted to block the right hind. So... the right hind fetlock block resolved the hind end lameness and interestingly, the right front lameness too. Which, makes sense if the right front is compensatory for the right hind. If it starts hind, it compensates ipsalaterally. If it starts in the front, it compensates diagonally. Typically. So... then they ultrasounded and x-rayed it and found nothing. Like... really nothing. So... he was a little bit surprised but we decided to inject the joint anyways. And it was pretty dry. So hopefully that will do the trick. He said to put him on adequan and previcox and to monitor and return if the front end got worse again. He also said that if it did... my options were pretty much to x-ray the whole foot again, to ride him and have them do a lameness exam ridden, or to MRI. We also discussed that the MRI may or may not be helpful treatment wise. Because... if it's in the foot... and it's been like this for 4 years... with minimal worsening/change.... So... yeah. But yay for nothing crazy!
