So.... it SNOWED!! Like legit real snow :) Well, at first. It started in the wee hours of the morning and I woke up to a heavy thick snowfall and frisky ponies! I got up and dressed and went out to play and take photos and feed critters. They were having fun.
Then I decided... it was thick enough that I could sled!!! Let's do this! I found the T-Rex raft and went to blow it up. But... the hole to inflate it was huge and I couldn't get the air pump to fit. I tried blowing it up with my lungs but.... the whole was big and difficult and that was a big raft! So I was about to give up... Man.... I'll probably not get this chance again! Oh wait!! Maybe my leaf blower would fit. And sure enough.. it was a perfect fit! And blew up the raft lickety split! I had to inflate the head with my lungs, but that's okay. So then I was all set! But at this point the snow had turned to sleet coming down. Ugh. I also didn't have my long lines because Beth had borrowed them. Doh.. so I didn't want to trek up to the arena to get the lunge line but I had to. And I had to get the surcingle. Then I used my german martingale lines for the other side.
I caught Dan and put the halter on him and clipped the lines to his halter. It was sleeting pretty bad so I left his blanket on and just put the surcingle on over his blanket. And then I showed him the raft. He didn't really care about it. So then at this point.. my fingers were frozen because I had gloves on only one hand so I could function. Plus I was hoping to take photos! So I got situated and tried to climb on the raft but Dan just kept spinning around to look at us. No dude.. go!! ha ha... So he kept tangling the lines, so.. eventually after about 10 minutes of us flailing.... I managed to get him to walk off! YAHOOO!! He pulled me on the raft for about 8 feet... and then I hit an ant hill and the raft stopped and I got pulled off it and then Dan took off. Ha ha... Oh well. I gave up. I was FROZEN at this point because the raft had been sleeted on enough while I was fixing the lines that it had puddles, so my butt was soaking wet... my fingers were literally frozen and non-functional and... Dan was over it. I did manage to catch him and pull his halter, lines and surcingle off. Then I went inside to warm up.
And good gravy my fingers hurt soooo bad. I was almost nauseous! I stripped down and got the wet clothes off and huddled in front of the space heater to thaw. It took about 20 minutes for my fingers to get feeling again and stop throbbing!. But it was worth it. And... good thing I did it because... LIFE GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!! Sort of. Mostly. And... then the snow just turned to a mushy sleety icy mess. And then it wasn't fun anymore.
