Vet Recheck

Still lame but sounder second jog up. Mild bits of effusion but much much better. middle patellar ligament much happier and smaller. no tears. but... weird "bubbles" on the bone... patella. opted to do rads... no fractures... but angry unhappy bone. "Bruised". He came VERY close to catastrophe! Suspect she nailed him right at the edge of all the ligament attachments and likely frayed/split some originally but they look to be healing. Still angry but much improved. seems to not want to flex it so resistant to cranial swing phase. recommended more rest, but can do some easy walks to help encourage movement and restrict scarring. give butacort when ridden but not otherwise. recheck in a few weeks unless he's worse.

so.. snuck off to ashland for a quickie. Just walked bareback to lake and back. (had drs appt for me to get back for). walked happily to the lake and splashed and played. But noticable sore/lame going up hill. walked better once on flat ground again. Maybe cranky tonight...

was trying to take photos and when i finished he lunged at funny (who is in heat and annoying) and she spun and spun into me and knocked me hard in the back. luckily that was it.

annoyed, but also... prior to that, VERY grateful to God... and missed him sooooo much! hoping that this is just another temporary setback... and not a permament one. Not even sure what number life he's on now, but... we're gonna have to start making these last a little longer buddy.... #9lives

Happy Day

 Good day

out grazing with Fleck. Got a spritz when I hosed Funny off before her lesson.

after her lesson, tried a quick lunge to see how sound he was. He immediately grabbed the rope in his mouth and cantered so I had to let go, but then he trotted out of the arena and looked pretty darn sound. He just still looks lame at the walk. Weird

smiled at dinner for bites of flecks

Roller Coaster

Ooof, Flecky got bad again... hopefully he's back on the upswing. Dan looked the same.

vet visit tues

Stifle is still very effusive... still lame as all get out, but did at least trot. but definitely lame at the walk even. still holding leg resting. ultrasound showed mensiscus is good... middle patellar ligament has no tears but is huge! Tons of effusion and irritation... Dx: Severe synovitis and tendon inflammation. Injected it with PRP and am doing butacort topically. Then in 2-4 weeks will recheck... after that, can hopefully think about going back to work. Can also consider arthramid or noltrex in a month or 6 months to help that arthritis, but won't do much for the synovitis now.

Super sad because he was almost lamer the next day. but... today... (even though he's supposed to be on stall rest for 3 days but I didn't because he's just walking around anyways and doesn't feel good enough to be stupid) when I was riding lyric in the pasture he came cantering up! Being silly and then trotted some. Still lame BUT... at least he feels good enough to trot and canter. So... yay. maybe!

also, he's been such a good little brother hanging out with Fleck. maybe cause he's waiting for his leftover grain but still. I know he loves him and I'm pretty sure he's worried about him too.

Optimism... engaged

So... it's much easier to be optimistic now that Fleck has stopped being so miserable. Thank you God!! I was really worried about him. Really worried.  So now I can focus a bit more on Dan again. I borrowed a red light laser from a friend and have been lasering his stifle. Not sure it's doing any good.

And today, while riding Funny, I ran into Dawn. She asked how I was doing and I told her "terrible". And didn't get to talk because I had to hurry back to meet the farrier to get a shoe put back on. But, before i left she walked up and gave me a four leaf clover she had just found! Awww.. she's so sweet. I told her I might feed it to Dan.

And then tonight....

Taste the Rainbow! And the four leaf clover. And maybe, maybe that will bring us luck when we have our recheck on the 8th. Or maybe.. we don't need luck.. because we have God. And we're still praying hard. Or I am at least. I don't know about Dan. But maybe, God sent us the tasty rainbow and clover as a little reminder... He sees us. He hears us. He loves us.  So... we don't lose hope. And ps.. just remember God.. he probably needs a change on him before he becomes an apocolypse horse... just saying. ;) ha! Teasing... kind of.
